In what could be the last gathering with close friends with her, Jenina Buan
was glad to find the community and endlessly thanked everyone while fighting
off tears rolling in her cheeks.
Staring at the wall bearing the memories of the glorious past, everyone looked
in awe as once again Singles For Christ Hong Kong has one more member leaving
the community for good.
Flanked by long-time buddies Arme Ramos, Es Gonzaga and Irene Pangilinan, Jenina
told everyone it was a difficult decision to settle to Canada. "Of course,
because I will leave all of you. Many of my friends ask me what should I do in
Canada and be away from my family.
"But when I made the decision, I felt inner peace. I continue to ask for
your prayers" she told the group.
Jenina is among the pioneers of Singles For Christ Hong Kong community and saw
how it evolved from an all-girls group to several household groups across two
units. She met friends along the way and attested that being in the community
she was always "grounded" amidst the way of life in Hong Kong where
people easily connote the former British crown colony with shopping and extravagance.
The Canadian-themed party lasted for three hours including a few games participated in by members, a Powerpoint slide presentation and a game participated in by Jenina herself. A send off prayer was led by Bro. Elmer Añonuevo.
Jenina leaves Hong Kong on the 3rd of February and will fly to Vancouver on 27th of February.
